I’m Melize Smit, a writer and teacher from South Africa with a love for stories that explore heartbreak, healing, and hope. My debut novel, The Silence Between Us, was born out of my fascination with the quiet strength people carry after loss, and the ways love can grow in unexpected places. When I’m not writing, I’m usually surrounded by art, music, or the laughter of my students, all of which inspire the stories I tell.
