I cannot express to you how grateful I am that you're interested in reading a book that I have written. I've always been a story-teller with an overactive imagination. I had my first idea for a book in 2009, which suspiciously sounded a lot like Twilight. Over the past 15 years, I've been swept up time after time with the idea of a new story, but never actually put pen to paper (save for a very melodramatic short story I wrote in my high school creative writing class). It wasn't until June of 2026, while reminiscing on the summers of my youth, when I was slapped in the face with the idea for A Second Chance at Cove. Although my own story very closely mirrors Beverly's, my cottage was not so lucky. Before my great-uncle passed in 2006, he sold my beloved cottage to his church for $1. We had a few more good years returning to the cottage before it was finally sold for $1,000,000 in 2016. It was demolished shortly after and a mansion was built in its place. At so many points in the writing process I thought to myself "Gosh I need to book a trip to Lanesville so I can go see the cottage" before remembering it no longer exists. This book is partly a love letter to Lanesville, my family, and the summers of my youth, but is also an outlet for me to heal the young girl who so desperately would have loved to inherit the cottage and build a life on Cape Ann. I hope you might find it heals a part of you, just as it did for me.
