Use your own domain name

Forward your domain to your Quilltips profile

Quilltips does not currently have a custom-domain setting. Your profile already lives at a public link like quilltips.co/your-name. However, if you own your own domain, you can forward it to your existing Quilltips page at the company where you bought the domain — GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace, Cloudflare, and so on.

This is not something you configure inside Quilltips. Where you bought your domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace, etc.) has a setting called Domain Forwarding, URL Redirect, or similar — usually on your domain's settings or DNS page. There you paste your full Quilltips profile link.

What happens for visitors

Someone types your domain in their browser. Your domain provider redirects them to your Quilltips profile. The page is the same one they would see at your Quilltips link; after the redirect, the browser address bar will show your Quilltips URL.

Two steps

  1. Copy your Quilltips profile link. In the dashboard, open Author profile and scroll to the Sharing section. Copy your Author Profile URL — it looks like quilltips.co/your-name.
  2. Set up forwarding at your domain provider. Log in where you bought your domain. Find Domain Forwarding, URL Redirect, or Redirect Domain. Paste your Quilltips link, choose Forward only (not masking), and save.

Your profile link is always available under Author profile → Sharing.

Good to know

  • Choose Forward only. Turn off URL masking if you see it.
  • Changes can take from a few minutes up to 24–48 hours to take effect.
  • Forwarding replaces whatever was previously at that domain. To keep a separate website, forward a subdomain like www.yoursite.com or books.yoursite.com instead of the root domain.
  • To remove forwarding later, go back to the same setting at your domain provider and turn it off or delete the redirect rule.
