About In The Corner of Aunt Millie's House

Sixteen-year-old Constance Townsend has spent most of her life pretending the thing in the west bedroom isn’t real. But it has watched her ever since the night her parents died. Connie’s aunt doesn’t believe in ghosts. She believes in bills, bad luck, and keeping a roof over their heads. When money runs out, her aunt rents the spare room to a mother and her young son, forcing Connie to share the house with strangers who don’t know what lives inside it. Even Connie’s best friend—not boyfriend— Ronan doesn’t believe her. Until the boy starts seeing it too. As the shadow grows stronger, Connie can no longer dismiss the haunting. It knows her. It wants her. And the longer she refuses to remember why, the more it reaches for the people she loves. Connie must uncover the truth buried in her own memory before the darkness consumes them all. In the Corner of Aunt Millie’s House is a Pacific Northwest gothic YA novel about grief, memory, and the terrifying things that grow in the dark when no one is willing to look.

I'm B. E. “Be” Padgett! I write YA gothic horror and middle grade fantasy set in the Pacific Northwest. I'm passionate about telling spooky whimsy stories that capture the chaos, turmoil, and beauty of large families, especially siblings or found families. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. I grew up in a large, chaotic family of eight. I have almost two dozen nieces and nephews, and being an auntie is one of the biggest joys in my life. When I'm not writing, I'm busy with a host of hobbies. I love crocheting, hosting dress-up tea parties, traveling, themed events, graphic design, whistling, and all things art. I'm a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and the author of The Reeds of West Hills series.
