Jaime Selile Watkins is an author and lifelong storyteller from Lonoke, Arkansas, raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She began creating short stories, plays, and characters as a child, long before imagining her name on a novel. In 2014, one of her short stories was published in a student publication at Florida State College at Jacksonville. She later contributed to Woman to Woman Talk from 2018 to 2019. Jaime earned a bachelor’s degree in Film and Creative Writing from the University of Central Florida, an education that shaped her cinematic approach to storytelling, with its focus on atmosphere, music, body language, tension, and the quiet moments between words. Her debut novel, The Space Between Us, reflects her love of romance, music, and deeply human characters who do not always make the right choices. Jaime writes imperfect, passionate, funny, and frustrating characters; particularly African American characters who deserve the freedom to exist fully, fall in love, make mistakes, heal, and find their way forward. Inspired by R&B, late night conversations, unforgettable books, anime, and romances that linger long after the final page.
