Thank you for spending time with Billie Carver.

Billie has always been a character who knows she wants more from life, even when she does not yet know exactly what that life will look like. She is independent, stubborn, ambitious, and determined to become a writer on her own terms. For Billie, that past arrives in the form of Josephine Carver.

Learning that she has a grandmother she never knew about changes the direction of Billie’s life. When she goes to Boston and meets Josephine, neither woman can fully understand how important that first meeting will prove to be. Billie is discovering a missing piece of her family, while Josephine is being given an unexpected opportunity to become part of her granddaughter’s life.

That relationship is one of the reasons this story means so much to me. Billie Carver is about family secrets, but it is also about second chances—the possibility that people separated by years, choices, and silence can still find one another.

Billie’s journey is also just beginning. The friendships she forms, the people she loves, the mistakes she makes, and her determination to write will eventually shape not only her own life but the lives of others throughout the Black Springs Universe.
