A Letter to My Readers

Deck of Fates

Dear Readers,

What if destiny wasn't written in the stars, but held within a deck of cards? What if the power to change the world rested in your hands, but every card you played came with a price?

When I began writing Deck of Fates, I wanted to create a fantasy adventure unlike anything I'd written before. A world where magic, strategy, and fate collide, where incredible power can be summoned through cards, and where even the smallest decision can change the course of history.

At the heart of this story is Locke Maxwell, a young man thrust into a world far greater and more dangerous than he ever imagined. His journey isn't simply about collecting powerful cards or defeating impossible enemies. It's about discovering who he is, understanding the weight of his choices, and learning that destiny isn't always something we're meant to accept.

With Aetherra, I wanted to build a world filled with extraordinary characters, powerful magic, ancient mysteries, and battles that feel as breathtaking as they are dangerous. Inspired by my love of anime, fantasy, and strategic combat, I wanted every encounter to feel unpredictable and every victory to be earned.

But beneath the action and adventure lies something deeper. Friendship, sacrifice, love, betrayal, and the terrifying question of whether our futures are predetermined or shaped by the choices we make.

To everyone opening Deck of Fates for the first time, welcome to Aetherra. Expect unforgettable characters, dangerous enemies, unexpected twists, and a journey where the rules of fate are constantly being challenged.

Thank you for taking a chance on this story and stepping into another world born from my imagination. I hope Locke's journey reminds you that even when the odds seem impossible, the next move is always yours to make.

Because destiny may deal the cards, but only you can decide how to play them.

Welcome to Deck of Fates.

With gratitude,

Jordan Troche

About Deck of Fates: The Magician's Legacy

Two empires. One war. And a boy caught in the middle. Locked in a brutal conflict, the Paladin Kingdom and the Ascendant Empire wage a battle for dominance that’s left the world scarred. But far from the frontlines, a different kind of resistance brews in secret. When Locke Maxwell discovers a power buried within him and the truth about his mother’s past, he’s drawn into the hidden war waged by the Knights of Fate, an outlawed order founded to defy both sides. Trained in ancient magic and forbidden truths, Locke must choose where he stands in a world where trust is scarce, power is deadly, and fate can be rewritten. Perfect for fans of epic magic systems, rebellious heroes, and high-stakes battles, Deck of Fates is a gripping fantasy debut where loyalty is tested, destinies collide, and the line between hero and weapon begins to blur.

Jordan Troche

Jordan Troche is a dark fantasy and supernatural thriller author whose stories explore the hidden forces that shape our world. Blending mythology, horror, and epic fantasy, his work dives into ancient wars between angels and demons, forgotten gods, cursed bloodlines, and the fragile line separating humanity from the monsters it fears. His stories are known for their cinematic scale, immersive worldbuilding, and characters forced to confront power, destiny, and the darkness within themselves. Jordan’s passion for mythic storytelling began early, inspired by ancient history, theology, fantasy epics, and the idea that reality may be far stranger than it appears on the surface. Over time, that fascination grew into a body of work centered around one core idea: that the battle between light and darkness is not just cosmic, but deeply human.
