When I learned that my maternal bloodline stretches back more than 44,000 years, I thought I was uncovering something about my ancestry. Instead, I found myself reflecting on identity, legacy, faith, and the extraordinary women whose lives made mine possible.
Their stories reminded me that history is more than dates and records. It lives in the people who came before us, in the sacrifices they made, in the values they passed down, and in the resilience that continues from one generation to the next.
Writing Rooted became an act of remembrance. It deepened my appreciation for those who carried our family through unimaginable circumstances and inspired me to preserve the stories that deserve to be remembered.
