About 13 Days of Silence ~The Murder of Rylee James
Teri Busse is an award-winning author whose nonfiction work explores grief, resilience, trauma, and what it means to keep living after life changes forever. She also writes under the pen name T. L. Everheart for select genres. A retired paramedic and firefighter with more than 25 years of experience in emergency services, Teri writes from both professional experience and deeply personal loss. Her books include 13 Days of Silence: The Murder of Rylee James, the true story of her son’s murder and the thirteen days her family waited for answers, and When Getting Out of Bed Is the Hardest Part, winner of the 2026 International Impact Book Award in Psychology: Grief & Bereavement. Her work doesn’t promise easy answers or tidy endings. It is written for people learning how to live in the after, when moving forward doesn’t mean leaving behind the people and lives they loved.
