😍 Back in 2017/2018, I entered a writing contest. I didn't win the contest, but I got such good feedback, and people wanted to know more about the character. Then in 2019, after losing two aunts barely a month apart, I moved out of my 6BR home and in with my mom bc she had gotten vertigo and went to the hospital with blood sugar through the roof. Then, we all know what 2020 ushered in... so I closed my beauty salon, and within months, I was moving my grandmother from her COVID-riddled nursing home in Mississippi to Atlanta to be her full-time, 24-hour caregiver 🥴 What a whirlwind! During my time as a caregiver, I decided to use that time "not traditionally working" to start writing again. I created a few logbook and journal entry workbooks, but I got so burnt out that I couldn't think creatively. I went on another whirlwind of healing, pain, and more grief than I could fathom. I finally recently found a spark of creativity to go back and give my character from that contest a backstory! Introducing A Bed of Hot Embers: The Kindling (Lauryn's Backstory)!!
