Pre-sale book pages
A pre-sale (upcoming) book page lets readers countdown to release, ask to be notified, sign up for ARC or beta (Plus), and pre-order from Quilltips Shop. You can use this on the free plan for your one book page, or on Plus for as many titles as you need.
1. Create an upcoming book
From New Book, check This is an upcoming book launch. You can also turn that on later from the book settings page if you created a live book by mistake. Set a release date (required for pre-sale). You can add an optional pre-order or retailer link. Cover, description, and bonus content work the same as on a live book — see How to add bonus content to your pages.
2. What readers see
- A countdown to the release date on the book page.
- Notify me when you leave that option on in book settings (under Reader Signup Forms).
- Shop Pre-order if you have active Shop products on that book.
- ARC and Beta forms if you are on Plus and have added them to the page — see How to collect reader signups and manage contacts.
Share the page with a link or QR code like any other book. Details are in How to share your Quilltips pages.
3. Notify me
In the book's settings, use Notify readers when it releases? Names and emails appear on Signups (ARC & Beta) under Launch notifications, with a CSV download. Those readers get an email about a week before the release date, and another when you launch the book.
4. Shop pre-orders
List e-books, signed copies, or print books on the upcoming title the same way you would after release. Readers tap Pre-order and save a payment method. They are not charged until you release the book. For print and signed copies, checkout collects a US shipping address and discloses Standard shipping (typically USPS Media Mail), which is included when the card is charged at release. A phone number is collected later when the charge actually runs, not on the card-setup step.
For a paid pre-sale e-book, the digital file is optional while the book is upcoming — you can activate the listing and take pre-orders without it. Upload the EPUB or PDF before you release so readers can be charged and receive their download. If the file is still missing at launch, those e-book pre-orders stay uncharged until you upload it. Free e-book downloads stay unavailable until the book is live.
Pre-orders show in Shop orders as pre-ordered until they are charged. Fulfillment is still yours for physical books. Full Shop steps are in Selling through Quilltips Shop.
5. Release the book
When the paid book is still in pre-sale, book settings show a Launch card with how many readers are waiting and how many pre-orders you have. Release this book turns the page into a regular book page: pre-orders are charged when they can be fulfilled, and readers who asked to be notified get an email. If an active e-book still has no file, those pre-orders are skipped and you get one reminder email to upload it. After you add the file, Quilltips charges the waiting cards automatically.
