Getting Started with Quilltips!
Quilltips gives you a place to showcase your books, add interactive bonus content for readers, collect signups, receive Fan Mail, sell through Quilltips Shop, and more — all in one place! This guide walks you through the basics so you can get your first book page live quickly.
1. Set up your author profile
You can easily configure your author profile to introduce readers to you and your writing, link readers to your socials or website, accept newsletter signups (ARC and beta programs with Quilltips Plus), and more! Visit Author profile in the sidebar to add your name, bio, photo, and links. You can also turn on reader engagement options like newsletter signups, events, and countdown clocks here. Find links and QR code downloads to share your page with readers. Already own a domain like yourname.com? Forward it at your domain provider — see Use your own domain name in Help for instructions (nothing to configure in Quilltips).
2. Add your first book
Your book pages are interactive spaces for readers to dive deeper. They scratch that itch of finishing a book and wanting to learn more, which is why many times authors embed their book pages right on their books with QR codes. You can customize your book page by adding bonus content such as thank-you videos, a letter to your readers, character art, signup forms and more! You can also allow readers to send you Fan Mail (which you can like or reply to), support your work with voluntary tips via Stripe, or sell e-books, signed copies, and print books through Quilltips Shop.
From the dashboard, click New Book (or go to Books → Add a book). Enter the book title, upload a cover image, and add a short description and other details. You can also mark the title as upcoming (not yet released) to get a countdown, notify-me list, and Shop pre-orders — see Pre-sale book pages. Each book can be easily linked through socials, your website, or through your custom QR code, so readers can quickly find it, minimizing dropoff and click fatigue.
3. Add bonus content (optional but recommended)
Adding bonus content to your pages is how authors can turn their fans into superfans and give their readers a richer experience with their books. Make your book page memorable with a thank-you video, a letter to readers, book art, a Spotify playlist, or book recommendations from other authors on Quilltips! Open your book in the Books section and scroll to "Add Content To Your Book Page" to add each type. For more detail, see How to add bonus content to your pages.
4. Enable tips & Shop (optional)
Quilltips lets readers tip you via Stripe and buy from Quilltips Shop. Connect Stripe in Settings → Payments to receive tips and paid Shop sales. Once connected, a Support button can appear on your book pages, and you can enable Shop from the sidebar to sell e-books, signed copies, and print books. Full Stripe setup is in How to link Stripe Connect as an author; selling details are in Selling through Quilltips Shop. For print-on-demand interiors and covers, see Print-ready PDFs for Quilltips Shop.
5. Share your pages
Use your book and profile links in newsletters, social bios, and back matter. Download QR codes from your book settings to print in books or use at events. For links, QR codes, and customization, see How to share your Quilltips pages.
6. Collect and use reader signups
Enable newsletter signups on any plan. ARC and beta reader signups require Quilltips Plus and are set up per book on Signups (ARC & Beta). Use the Data tab for a combined view of tips, Shop, and all signup types. For details, see How to collect reader signups and manage contacts.
